Got the invite to apply for PR through express entry. Was initially excited but now thinking if it's even worth pursuing given all the cons that I found after researching. Some cons I found - TC will be half once I account for currency, savings will be even lesser at 1/4th my current rate thanks to high taxes and living expenses. In essence I would have to work 4 years in Canada to build as much wealth as I would build one year in US Weather is another major con compared to CA. It's a socialist country disguised as capitalist. You will be one big queue for everything like healthcare and other services. Too many new immigrants and very few jobs, leading to even lower wages H1b with 300k TC working at SF Any insights appreciated
You are looking at 150 -180 TC CAD . but is this guy gets re-elected , all bets are off
I don’t understand your comment
Trudeau fucks the economy
Canada is much nicer to live in than the US in general. Two downsides to consider: - Considerably lower compensation for the same work - Fewer top tech job options
And freaking cold except Vancouver
Yes - Vancouver is the warm and sunny part of Canada. 🤣
Pros: life expectancy is 3.5 years higher in Canada
Cons: it's so cold you wish you died sooner
Lol, this comment makes no sense since it affects especially lower income families. That won't be the case for OP.
Everywhere I read people complain about long wait times for getting doctor appointments
So...what’s the pro then? Clearly you were drawn to Canada for a reason. It isn’t all just immigration is it? Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver are all excellent cities. Every socialist country will be the same. Half the TC is the price you pay for a decent and civilized society where the bottom half isn’t shit on and left to survive in sometimes desperate conditions and the city has decent infrastructure. Too many immigrants leads to high competition and lower incomes. But Canadians are very excellent people. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
My only pro was easier immigration to a first world country. Now I am scratching my head as to what was I thinking
Salary will be lower but only compared to the US.It is not lower compared to Germany ,France,UK,Australia etc. This is the important point your missing. You will not get 300k TC anywhere outside the US-period.
Salary will be lower compared to Bay/seattle area only. All other cities in US are comparable with Canadian salaries... People miss the bigger picture and run behind high number...
I am making 300k TC in Canada
Stay in US
if you can work remotely for a us company
Tc is only good for quality of life. If the quality of life is better then move. Why not try it for a year? I don’t find the medical system to have long wait times. I get in to see my doctor right away.
Try making an appointment for an MRI or non-emergency surgery
Quick drive over border :)
What are your cons other than salary
Milk comes in a bag, subsidized healthcare, and the occasional moose.
