Hello, I am planning to move to the bay area and always had an eye on Square. Got a call from recruiter back in 2017 (fresh outta grad school) but, moved to different state to take a break from BayArea/California. I got 4+ years of experience as a Full Stack engineer. current TC: 145k I know Square got hit with the pandemic, but I do see positions open on the website. Is Square hiring? How is the vibe in the company? if so, what level will I be considered for - I am a senior engineer in my current company. Would love an insight into tech stack + hiring process.

Why square ?
🎵it's hip to be a square🎶
Various reasons but, some of them are: Jack Dorsey + New age Fin Tech + Located in almost all the places across USA/International where I would like to move going down the line.
Still hiring, you'd be L4 or L5 depending on how the interview goes (L5 is theoretically five years but it's flexible)
Do you mind giving a small round down the the interview process and type of questions I should be looking into.
One or two phone screens, then three coding interviews, one past experience, one system design, and meeting the hiring manager. It's hard to generalize about the coding questions because everyone has their own, but we're encouraged not to do leetcode-style tricky stuff, it's usually much closer to solving real-world problems. All of the questions will have multiple parts, usually 3-5, so I can't really say what the expectation is for how far you should get - it's not usually finishing everything.
Definitely hiring. If you are enthusiastic about square and the space we are in and do reasonably well you’ll get a decent shot at a solid offer.
Can I dm you for a referal at Square?
still hiring and a great place to work, you can wait for the next earnings call to get insight into that aspect. If you’d like a referral feel free to DM me.
Hey I just dm'd you my details.
Hey, can I DM you for a referral?
As the other two Squares mentioned, we’re still hiring and growing nearly all of our teams. Good luck!
I like the positive responses here. Thanks!
Not sure if "still hiring" is the right way to put it, we did pause hiring for a few months but we've resumed hiring now
Not true. Hiring was never paused.
We never even really *paused* hiring, just slightly slowed it. But we're adding more HC as fast as we can fill it around now. Definitely recommend as a place to work. But as others have said, I'd wait until after next earnings call. Even as someone who is long on SQ, I expect the stock price to drop. It always does after earnings, but right now especially it feels like we're overcooked. (To be clear, I do not have any privileged information and this is only my personal guess)
Makes sense, I am more intrigued with how is Square dealing with the MomNPop shops closing. Does it have some secret sauce kinda product?
A lot of places aren't closing, but are moving to commerce online and over the phone. I dunno what the Q2 revenue is gonna look like, I don't have access to that info, but it seems like most investors are bullish on it. But beyond that, Square's been diversifying into more revenue from Capital, Cash, bitcoin, SaaS, etc for a while
Ouch, it hurts. Help me understand where are the grammatical mistakes. Would love to learn. Cheers!
Rude and unnecessary comment. OP, ignore him/her!
