Is there any benefit of getting H1B visa for me?
My wife can't work till she doesn't get EAD, the waiting time there is 6-8 months. She can work now on her L2 visa. I wish to settle in India eventually. I am already working in Meta, so not a lot of companies are going to pay me as much. Is there anything I am missing? I am thinking of not applying for H1B unless it is really going to benefit us in some other way. Tc 450k Yoe 9 #tech #h1b

No need for H1B. Accumulate as much as you can with two incomes.

In cases of layoffs H1b folks have a grace period, and you can move to another company. How’s it on L1/L2?

It’s a lot less easy to uproot one’s life if you have a house, kids in school here, don’t wanna give up on the ease of life (pollution/infrastructure) etc. But if your priorities are different then no harm in sticking with L1. In the other thread you mentioned you’re new here, and want to live here for 5-6 years. Very few leave after staying here for that long. :)

Is h4ead wait time 6-7 month? Why can’t you change job and file petition at h1 transfer time it can reduce wait time to 3 weeks

You can get laid off and meta will expedite your India plans. Leaving the country on short notice is a bit of a hassle.
