Joined for about 1 year, I've observed the team culture differs significantly from my previous work experiences. Here are some: 1. Limited Communication in the Team's Public Slack Channel: In the team of 12 engineers, it's rare to see messages in the public Slack channel. Perhaps only 1 to 2 messages are posted per day. It's uncommon for team members to pose technical questions in this channel, which sometimes makes me hesitant to seek for help in public. 2. Individualized Project Allocation: The manager follows a work allocation approach where each team member is responsible for their own project from the initial design phase (as a product manager) to implementation and operation. No collaboration between teammates. 3. High Workload and Sprint Challenges: Workload is notably intense, with each sprint featuring more tasks than can realistically be completed. Consequently, individuals find themselves switching between different projects within the two-week sprint timeframe. At the end of each sprint, a meeting is held for team members to demo their accomplishments. I am curious to know if such team culture are common across teams at Amazon. #amazon #aws #meta #google #pip
We have 3.3 rating on Blind for a reason. Collaboration and seeking help is frowned upon. Everyone should move away from this shit hole of a place.
Yes, I at least agree with 3. Sprints used to be overloaded with pressure to get everything done.
Makes sense once you learn about pip quota. What incentive is there to help the other person? Why would anyone show technical weakness by asking for help?
can't agree more, damn, accept that offer is the worst decision I have ever made
Everyone is competitive, if you are not then you are facing pip.
Yes, or at least that's what I've been living through too for the past 2 years here
