Yes but it’s the opposite depending on managers. They feel worse about firing/ laying off visa people, especially if they are/were on a visa.

According to law, us citizens are supposed to be favored over those on a work visa.
That's the law but it doesn't matter. When your manager and skip are visa holders they naturally protect their compatriots.

Large companies don’t care as much. Small companies (< 1500 people) have little foresight on the impact of losing a talented resource and layoff visa people first. Keep in mind this comment is based on company unable to locate a citizen as talented as the person on visa.
TC is the biggest factor, the more u make the bigger the target on your back.
what if i told you management is so cold hearted they dont care about visa status. they just see how useful that person is to them going forward

Usually, Visa fees is a very small value compared to salaries of the org that's non profitable. I don't think it matters much.
