Posting for someone else FAANG leader got a JPMC leader offer. Base pay is clear in the offer letter but the incentive compensation is not mentioned for the future years. It only states something like this : You will be eligible for annual incentive awards under JP perf based incentive compensation plan. Target incentive comp for perf year 2022 is xx,xxx There is no mention about what the incentive comp is going to be for the upcoming years. Is this common? Understand that incentive compensation is performance based / but there should be statement which states the max IC one can make every year and not just have a number for the current year. How did you offer look like when you got it? Thanks š

Fidelity be like ā¦ āyour bonus opportunity is 25%; the bonus pool was funded at 85% and congratulations you were awarded 90% of your bonus opportunity!ā So you be like ā¦ hmm, I beat some people, but came in less than I could have, especially considering you can get over 100%. Would rather have higher base than all this mess!
That is exactly what I was aiming for - but they couldnāt beat the base - but beat IC/TC. Their is no mention about IC for the future years as well in the offer letter.
ātarget incentiveā stated in the offer minus base pay will be most likely the exact amount of bonus for the first year unless one messes up something big time. after the first year, in my personal case, it stayed pretty much the flat for other later 3 years for the bonus amount. at least that was my case. but mine was junior role, so story may be different for leader role?

Generally the first year incentive is pre-allocated, could vary from next year based on individual and business performance. Generally hitting targets is what I heard unless there is a terrible performance problem with an individual or business.

I think finance is known for this. It depends on how well their business does.
But mentioning some sort of a number as the max incentive comp(IC) can get in the coming years is a must. The IC mention is only for this year and there is no mention of the max IC I am eligible for in the coming years. Do I need to ask the recruiter about this?
