Hey guys, could you please help in providing some inputs on what to choose between chase vs Bny Mellon. I received offer from both. Pay wise Bny Mellon offers good. Swe- senior software engineer YOE - 12+ Bny tc: 160K + 10% target bonus ( wfh) Chase :130k + 25K target bonus(hybrid) I wanted to know about WLB, Job security interms of long term commitment, benefits… Please share your thoughts #jpmorganchase #bnymellon #interview #finance
Wtheck? Chase is so low. Seems like you got lowballed
Ok, il try to pitch in more. But what about your thoughts on other aspects like wlb, long term commitment(job safety considering the layoffs all over the place), benefits?
Jpmc is hiring a lot, is what I can say so pretty stable in that sense, benefits? Skips and managers buying us team lunch occasionally if that's a perk, insurance sucks cause my school insurance was way better, 401k match is 5%, free headphones, 1100 reimbursement for tech equipment, free stationary like pens and notebooks, what else do you want to know?
No one can guarantee that in either of the organization , it depends on lob and team. Generally i have seen it is easier to move up the ladder in BNY. If WFH is something you prioritize JPMC is definitely not for you.
I’m not looking for 100% remote. Ok to goto office few days a week like hybrid model. Generally interms of technology and WLB , I wanted to know better. I’m hearing chase has legacy technologies? Not so much of cloud and micro services. Any idea?
JPMC used to be chill with greater WLB and that translates up in lower compensation too. Right now some teams can be pretty hectic because of attrition over last year. JPMC expense on tech is higher than BNY there are some legacy applications and if they have to live they are being migrated to cloud platform there is a push for AWS now. That being said concentrate on the stack of the team you will be joining.
And I hate to mention that compensation is pathetic at 12 YOE. Some time it just amazes me how chase gets away offering these kinds of compensation. Are you on visa ?
Yeah it’s too low. I’m on H1B visa
Negotiate by showing the other offer if you decide to join they have a room for that. Be respectful but firm and be mindful of your priority date if it is no where near being current in near future it doesn’t matters actually.
Put a poll you’ll get more responses
Sure
Bny
How was your overall experience with Bny? Interms of tech stack, WLB and other benefits?
I worked at JP, just recommending bny based off my experience at JP and your offer details
BNY
Thank you for the input. Pay is good here than chase. Can you tell me what other benefits Bny offer? Like are they providing laptops for work (mac is my preference though) ? Or we need to use our own laptop and connect thru vdi? Also i see insurance plan with Anthem is so high interms of out of pocket and deductible . Can you throw some light on these?
Please choose BNY. JPMC is very bureaucratic, which is very difficult to get ANYTHING done! Also, the tech stack at JPMC is super outdated.
Sure thank you
Same thing at BNY
Chase
BNY mellon… worked at both places… you have a better chance at being happier at BNYM
