About time to stop this race and gender based hiring/promoting quota system. Discrimination in any shape or form is unacceptable. You cant complain being discriminated if you willing to accept discrimination practice that benefits you. Hypocrisy. I sincerely hope more lawsuits against these discriminatory practices of the so-called diversity and inclusion initiatives across tech. I am ashamed that this started with Intel. Someone from Intel need to step up like this ex-googler. I am a liberal, non-white, and didn't vote for trump. But not afraid to call discrimination as is. The lawsuit filing contain juicy internal google email, communication, and forum. Straight White Males are a protected class, GOOGLE! SWM 💪🏻
What a bunch of snowflakes, conservatives are.
University admissions will be the next battleground - women get 4x as many college scholarships, Asians have to score several hundred points higher than other minorities.
just like reservation in India lol
University admissions have been challenged repeatedly. Not private scholarships but admissions yes. Universities have still found ways to make them legal, except in public universities in a few states (e.g. washington) where they are genuinely race blind and very heavily Asian as a result
I agree that discrimination of any kind is unacceptable, it needs to stop. I’m just not sure this guy and his angle is the best way to drive this change.
True. This guy and his angle is not ideal. But better than nothing.
You know this is why people hate you right? He’s good enough, that guy who is probably a nazi is good enough, orange reality TV host is good enough.
I don’t think this will accomplish anything but I’m really excited to see all of the internal emails/etc come out related to this. Should be interesting to see how execs/HR actually discuss this sort of thing
My thought too. He probably won’t win but we might learn something about the internal biases at Google and see if he had a point.
I'd love to see this clown get laughed out of court, but it's sadly much more likely that Google will pay some paltry but still way too large of a settlement to get it to go away more quickly. Completely legitimate termination of a problematic employee. And any legitimate discussions torpedoed by Damore's pseudoscience-veiled misogynistic bigotry.
What a loser
Google CEO? Agree. A pathetic loser.
Dude is just trying to milk his 15mins of fame
He can't work as a software engineer so now he's getting paid to be a poster child for white supremacy
Liberal mindset in 2018: Liberal: “We don’t lower the hiring bar for women and minorities.” Conservative: But here are 30 pages of documented favoritism for women and minorities. Liberal: “WHITE SUPREMACIST!”
Hope he loses. Hope tech companies find a way to just start a conservative purge. I’m picturing 2 minutes of hate with pictures of trump and people in maga hats. Mmm, sounds great. Then we can have a presentation about dragon otherkin. But really, he did something stupid at work and got fired. The other member of his class apparently got fired after he called a Muslim coworker a terrorist. You aren’t oppressed because you get fired for posting a memo that coworkers found offensive. But Damore is a whiny bitch I guess. I thought conservatives were supposed to have guts?
He didn't do anything stupid. He just expressed his opinion. Fuck Google and their fucking CEO.
Read the emails and screenshots in the complaint. What he wrote was no more stupid or offensive than the rest. If they claim he was fired for offending his coworkers, but they didn't fire the rest of these people for offending theirs, that sure looks like his political views made the difference. Lucky for Damore, he's in California, where political views are protected by law. Even conservative ones. This has been tested in court several times. The lawsuit also documents a pattern of discrimination in hiring, promotions, and work environment that went on for years and impacted Waymo than one person.
Cool! Hopefully he'll get a few millions.
Hopefully he removes the need that tech leaders feel to add forced diversity even if it's a token hire or promotion.
Hopefully he wastes a few million of alt right money donations on this lawsuit
