Jeez So This was Indeed a Coup to Destroy OpenAI

Amazon Invests 4B in Anthropic in September. Twitch CEO (Long time Amazonian)Tweets some gibberish about going slow around the same time. And now Twitch CEO is the interim CEO appointed overnight (can't be a joke) and the board now wants to merge OpenAI with Anthropic. Clearly a coup as the intent was always to get rid of Altman and Brockman entirely and take control of the company entirely (Either for the sake of Safety of AI or some sinister aim of killing ChatGPT and OpenAI's ambitions forever). https://www.theinformation.com/articles/openai-approached-anthropic-about-merger

Ilya found out and is now in Team Sam.

That seems correct from what it appears. Ilya was likely disgruntled due to Sam cutting his importance at OpenAI and not listening to him. He must have expressed his feelings to the remaining board members. It appears the other 3 people took advantage of the situation and got the much needed 4:2 vote to get Altman and Brockman out to fully control the board. Ilya can't do anything now because the 3 had sinister aim right from the beginning. There's no way on earth you bring Altman and Brockman for a chat to the office on a Sunday whilst also jumping the gun on finding a new CEO and offering the post to Silcon Valley stalwarts like Scale AI, Github and Twitch . It was always a coup right from the word go. They wanted a puppet CEO right from the word go. They don't care if OpenAI is killed as a company.

Very likely a coup when trillions of cloud spend are at stake

Microsoft chatg1234 Nov 20, 2023

What the fuck

Amazon Kuldeep696 Nov 20, 2023

Microsoft needs to step-in here..

Uber rsaeh OP Nov 20, 2023

What can they do other than sue the board which in my opinion is fully within it's legal rights to do what it has already done ? This isn't the first time a coup has been done within a company board.

Microsoft krnq5v Nov 20, 2023

They can legally destroy every board member and take over all open ai code and weights

And now Twitch CEO is the interim CEO appointed overnight (can't be so quick) and the board now wants to merge OpenAI with Anthropic. This is inspite the fact that apparently board was negotiating to bring back Altman. How did they simultaneously approach and quickly sign up Twitch dude for a CEO position ? This has to be in the making for a long time and it was well thought to be conducted on Friday evening so damage is controlled until Monday morning ! Clearly a coup as the intent was always to get rid of Altman and Brockman entirely and take control of the company entirely (Either for the sake of Safety of AI or some sinister aim of killing ChatGPT and OpenAI's ambitions forever).

I suspect D'Angelo might also have close ties to amzn or get bought out in the future by amzn. It's indirect way for amzn to take over as much of openAI as they can. Azure will take over AWS at the rate at which it's growing currently. It's trillions worth of table stakes

Only OpenAI employees can punish the board now. Leave together and join msft. It would mean the death of chatGPT and GPT 4 and we all would return to Stone Age AI of Google search and stack overflow until Anthropic or Sam Altman’s next comes out. What a shit show

Uber rsaeh OP Nov 20, 2023

The employees can kill the baby they created. But wasn't that something the board comprising of Quora founder and the other 2 ladies knew beforehand? All 3 of them are american citizens so it's not like they are naive and were taken in for a ride by Ilya who was initially considered to be the mastermind ? Ilya has already expressed regrets and has switched sides ? What's stopping the other 3 from resigning in ? They always had 1 intention and that was control of the board. Especially the 2 ladies. Now even if Quora founder caves it's 2:2 which means it's a deadlock.

Anthropic is also founded by OpenAI guys and is full of ex-OpenAI folks

Sounds real

Also aligns well with the timing of layoffs at Amazon Alexa!

Ain’t my problem. The drama has gone way too far. At least it increases our TC by pushing up tech stock, that’s good
