Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Interviewed with them a couple of years ago and had a great experience and offer. Ended up going with a different company and regretted it ever since. I’m interviewing with them again and wanted to get a sense of the current culture #
Things turned sour about a year back. Leadership are clueless. Everyone is being laid off. No one has motivation to do shit any more.
Lol, run!
There’s a lot of sour support and support adjacent people on Shopify Blind because we’re replacing them all with AI. If you’re in R&D there’s great WLB, engaging work, fair comp. Average tenure is high and we have lots of boomerangs.
R&D wlb depends on the team. Some teams grind too hard
Don’t listen to shopppy: what he says isn’t true. Last time we did a survey, the % of people from Support was rather low. What I can tell you: people at Shopify are nice but it isn’t a great place to work and do real, engaging work. If you want to coast, it’s definitely an option but chances are you won’t do anything amazing here and you might feel miserable quite fast.
Honestly, I would take nice people over impressive work any day. I’ve been on teams where I was working on cutting edge tech but my team was full of absolute jerks.very smart, but very unfriendly people. Was very miserable and left as soon as I could.
Ok, I forgot to mention: the nice people are your colleagues but more often than not, SLT will make your life miserable
A couple of years ago, pre/mid Covid, the culture was great. Things have changed a lot now, everything is micromanaged, top down culture, engineers have no say and no flexibility, get over ruled by gut feeling from SLT. No raises with promos, pitting employees against each other in review cycles, not sure why anyone would want to join this place.
There is no culture
