Job in Singapore, to move or not?

How's is Singapore for an Indian to work in an IT company? In hand salary is around 7.8k per month Is it less? It is good? Is it okay for an Indian to move to Singapore? Is work there good? Is the city safe to live? What all I should know before moving? Please help and guide! Thanks in advance

I can't talk about your specific salary, but Singapore is a great city country to live when you are young and don't intend to save a lot. It is very safe too, I would easily rate in the top 10 safest megacities in the world. Work culture typically depends on where you land a job, but if you are moving there from an India based IT company, you'll find a culture that's more diverse and welcoming. There are a fair bit of Indian restaurants and grocery stores too, though if you are vegetarian, you'll find fewer options for eating out. The weather is very tropical, so depends how you adjust to it and how the weather is in your current city. If you are moving from India, just make the move, it won't suck, don't think so much. You can always fly back in just a few hours if you don't like it. If you are moving from the US, there are potential pros and cons to consider. In either case, good luck!

I can’t speak about the money, but Singapore is safe, well connected, and is an English speaking nation. There are three main ethnic groups: Chinese, Malay, and Indian. If you’re concerned as someone from India, the population is ~10% Indian, but I couldn’t tell you from where in India. Taxes are low in Singapore, so financially speaking, you should just compare what your post tax earnings in your current city to what you make after tax there and check the rent for an apartment you might like. Singaporean rents can be very expensive.

Veritas @sgt OP Feb 14, 2019

Ya looking at rent, I am in high doubts Whether 7.8k is right or less!!

Veritas @sgt OP Feb 14, 2019

Also, when I'll have salary there I don't have to pay any tax in India, right? Also how do you transfer money to your home bank account? Any pointers ther??

Other than expensive rent (you can live with roommates to save) and costly to drink and eat out, everything is great about Singapore. I would do some calculation and see if you can live the lifestyle you want. I can say that 7.8k after take home you will be just fine. You can get a decent place to live and still go out all you wants

It's probably before tax

Veritas @sgt OP Feb 14, 2019

@referme didn't get what you mean And 7.8k is in hand, so it should be after cutting tax

Flipkart IPWx70 Feb 14, 2019

7.8k/month. Tax is very minimal, around 5-6%. Assuming basic monthly expense - 1800 (including food + rent). Savings - 6000/month ~ 300000 INR/month. I guess you won't be able to save this amount in India.

Veritas @sgt OP Feb 14, 2019

Great answer sir.thanks!!

Rest depends on your standard of living.
