Which industry has more job security? Consulting or tech industry? #microsoft #ey #deloitte #pwc #kpmg #google #amazon #salesforce

Definitely not consulting

Reason? Tech like Uber and airbnb might be more vulnerable?

A consultant’s job is to fill a temporary need where a company has no staff to do that job. By design, you are replaceable.

It depends - consulting companies are generally up or out and when work slows down low performers are cut fast. At the biggest tech companies they huge big profit margins and very strong market positions, because of this I think large tech companies are more safe; however, if you are at a smaller startup then consulting job is probably safter.

I believe regardless of industry, huge companies are generally more stable. If it comes down to big consulting firms vs big tech firms, I’d say big tech firms are better in terms of job security

Really depends on the type and size of the tech firm but generally, I would say tech offers more job security.

Def not consulting lol. Everyone can be cut

Yeah having worked in big Corp, startup, and consulting... Consulting the least stable

I'd say federal consulting is the most stable job I've had. WLB is great too. Usually 8 or 9 hrs a day only. What makes it stable is the need for security clearance. Those don't grow on trees. The higher clearance, the more stable. Most commercial consultants say they've been at a client for only a few months and rotate out? I know lots of people in federal that have been with a client for 5 years.. 10 years.. up to 16 years..

Probably just from job security perspective, there are more stable jobs out there than either consulting or tech gig. But between the two, probably tech industry.
