I got an offer to join Akamai as a senior software engineer in the Bay Area. I am wondering what the culture is like and whether it is a good career move. I don’t know anyone who has worked there or how their products are. New TC: $184k +50k RSU Old TC: $135k + 50k RSU YoE: 4 Edit: I was approached by recruiter and went through the process for the sake of practice. Had no expectations to get to an offer.
Do not join. High attrition . Age old internal tools. Low pay. Culture totally sucks.
There are Pros and Cons. Pros- Fantastic work life balance, understanding managers and depending on the team you get to work with really smart people. If you are into c++ or security its a great place to learn. A lot of people have jumped to FAANG from our teams. Cons- below average pay hikes, very slow promotions and even slower green card processing. Summary: Its no FAANG but its decent.
Thanks for the overview
What about the pay range? Do you know if there is more room to increase?
Sap > akamai
With 4 YoE you can do a lot better than what they are giving you. Your offer is medium-high by Akamai standards but you can secure way more at other companies. Attrition is very high, but ppl usually move to FAANG from here after some experience.
How much more are you talking about?
I am senior 2 and your base is much higher than me…

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
whats up with posts about asking about culture and the company after the offer. what was your reasoning for applying?
🤑🤑 Can't believe this is asked
Why should someone ask before getting an offer?
