You have a shot at making a ridiculous amount of money with pre IPO and the base TC is good anyway, I’d probably do it. Congrats
A friend joined Elastic few months before the IPO and made a killing this way. Less risk that the startup endup worthless. Or waiting years before the stocks become liquid.
do you know how much and YOE?
Depends on which valuation they use for stock
Pre IPO
When will the IPO happen?
As per one report, it’ll happen sometime mid-December
I think it's too late for any potential upside. You'll get a very close to IPO price. And there is a history of price decreasing after IPO for similar companies (Uber, lyft). Joining just before IPO turned out to be the worst time for those companies.
This sounds misleading now. But no one could predict anyway
Would be good to know if the OP ended up joining and if yes what price they got
What's the stock price that they offered you? I also got a verbal offer and waiting for the numbers.
Also had an offer with stock options valued at last series of funding, which recruiters/dd employees are telling me that it'll go up and that it'll at least double. Also the stock equity would need to vest for 1 year, and unsure of their price after that point, not to mention the state of the world/pandemic since it has clearly influenced the core business. I'm pretty skeptical, as there is a 1 year cliff plus historically tech IPOs have fluctuated in the past few years
I also got an offer from DD and am in the same boat. The Stock options offered are valued at their last series funding round valuation and let's say that it's $100. I was told that if I join pre-IPO my RSUs will be computed based on the $100 share price on the first vesting date which let's say is in Feb. My guess is that the stock will be split before DD goes IPO (let's say in Dec). So, if the stock gets split into 4:1 then the price per share will be $25. So, will my RSUs be computed in Feb based on $100 share price or the split price $25.
Do you know the date at which your number of RSUs will be calculated? whether that's the joining date (which can be in December) or the vesting date (which you say is in Feb). You'll probably get whatever is the price at that date.
Thanks for responding. The date will be the joining date (which can be in December).
