I just joined Amazon 4 months ago. I knew what I was getting into but I thought would be able to push through a couple years to get FAANG on my resume. I’m not really enjoying it so far. People here are robotic, the space I’m working in (basically internal analytics tools) is not interesting, it’s much more stressful than my last job and there is layoff risk. The only pro here is I think I’m learning a lot of new things whereas I kind of hit a learning plateau at my last job. My last job gave me a counteroffer before I left and said I was welcome back. It had unlimited vacation, excellent WLB and a more interesting customer facing product. Counter offer was 220k, current TC is 280k. Should I go back or stick it out?
Could you please refer me for your old company?

Dude wants all faang in his resume.
Ugh, similar dilemma. 4 months in as well, but have another offer instead of returning to old. Goodluck on your decision!
Unlimited PTO is so 💣
You mean 🚩
Unlimited PTO = peer pressured into never taking vacation
lmao 4 months? I jumped back to my old company with less pay immediately after day 1 at Amazon 😂 GTFO bro the place is on fire all the time
You did? What happened in day 1 that made you go back so quickly
Actually it was week 1, I talked to people and did some training and realized this isnt for me (culture, wlb, teammates, responsibilities) and deeply regretted my decision to leave a good job
I think the biggest red flag is that you’re working on an internal analytics tool. Internal tools are rough for visibility / promotion / funding. Nor do they make a great resume item. I’d go back to your previous employer or try to switch altogether to a different employer. If internal switching wasn’t frozen, I’d have said find a different role internally
Internal tools in Amazon are serving thousands of users, millions of requests per second. The biggest online retailer in the world depends on your service. Right, that doesn't make a great resume item...
Also, you're going to interact with all of your users, who are at all levels of the engineering and management ladder. This is a great way to show off who you are to those folks and build a network for when you want to hop teams.
One thing to note here is the composition of your offers, if 220k was a cash offer then I would take it in this market.
Are you kidding when would be a better time to get equity than now ? Everything is poised to grow
Iam in a very similar situation trying full fledged outside and did an outreach to previous employer , left them on very good terms. Going back would reduce my TC but there is a better career out there.
I’m in same boat. 3 months and checking with ex-colleagues but not sure as I’m worried it might damage my resume?
Not an issue if you move on. It’s only a red flag if you jump like that a lot. Just tell hiring managers the truth: wasn’t a good fit.
Can I leave Amazon out of resume? I left within 2 weeks and don’t want people to know that. I’m ashamed of this unethical and toxic place
Stay the course. You're almost half way there
Half way to getting PIPed?
Even if you get piped you can join your previous company.
