My 7yo son said he wants to do Taekwondo, but I'm struggling to find a good shop... any recommendations? I've seen a few in Kirkland, but I saw a few yellow flags: - Instructors and kids use flashy uniforms - Website over-emphasizes use of swords, bow, etc. (tkd is not about those things) - No pictures of tournaments - I didn't find the instructor in the black belt registry in kukkiwon or itf While none of these alone is a red flag, I think a combination of these gives me an impression that the studio isn't very serious... I'm ok him going to a recreational school for a while, but I think he might get bored soon. Recommendations? 310

Ask on your neighborhood FB page
Depending where you are located, if Issaquah is good location wise, check out World Tae Kwon Do Center. In my experience across a few states, the places that are connected to World Tae Kwon Do have a pretty similar instructional method as their other schools (which means your kid can hop in elsewhere if you’re traveling etc) and you should be able to find the instructor in the registry in Kukkiwon. https://martialartswashington.com/

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Bjj my guy, self defense usually ends up on the ground
I'm actually a bjj black belt and teach him at home... but he wants to learn tkd
Bjj is just judo for people who forgot how to stand or do throws. The world is bigger than single/double legs my dudes...
