Kraken Stock Options in TC - how does it work
Could someone please explain to me how stock options work at Kraken if you are given an offer of employment. I understand how RSUs work but need some help understanding krakens options. The role i’m interviewing for has In the Uk has a max base of 190k USD and a 10-15% performance bonus. Recruiter also mentioned stock options… How do they work given Kraken isn’t listed yet? How do they vest? You have to exercise the options from your own pocket I’m guessing and bank the difference between the current value and strike? Yoe 11 yrs
so your contract will state how many shares of options you will be getting, and vesting is similar to RSU, 1 year cliff, then monthly after a year. you will be told what the current value of the option is as well as a strike price. So your gain will be value-strike price. For example if current value is 100 and your strike price is 20, you will make 80 per share. difference with RSU is you need to pay the 20 per share to exercise the options where as RSUs are given for free.
