L3 -> L4 timeline at Snap
Can anyone that has gone from L3 Engineer to L4 Engineer at Snap share their experience in regards to what it takes / how long it took them.
Snap won't survive until you get to L4. Run.
Care to share your assumptions on how long it takes to go from L3 -> L4 and when you think Snap goes belly up?
2 years and 1.3 years.
At most companies its 1-2 years depending on when you join in the company's review cycle and how quickly you ramp up. The expectations for L3 are pretty low, so just focus on learning and delivering on what you're assigned.
It’s not 1-2 years. Going from snap L3 to L4 is like going from E4/L4 to E5/L5 at fb/G. It typically takes almost 3 years.
Not true. 12 to 18 months is the expected range for L3 to 4. For 4 to 5 it is 18 to 36 months. L5+ is considered terminal. These ranges are per HR documentation. But promo process is by self nomination to a committee so YMMV.
