Fortunate enough to pass every single one of my onsites. I’m curious to see what Blind would’ve chosen, I’ve already eliminated some of these. All offers are 300-330+ range, averaged over 4 years. I’m not posting breakdowns, this makes me identifiable enough as is. Google L4 NYC - Digital Ads platform FB E4 NYC Roblox IC2 - Bay Area - great company Argo AI - full remote based out of LA - unicorn, nonliquid equity, IPO next year - bad company culture, good team Airtable L4 - Bay Area - unicorn, nonliquid equity, IPO unknown - great company and team HRT non-quant full stack web algo - option 1: NYC internal tools - option 2: Chicago trading platform TC 90k -> 0 YOE 2 LC total count 550
what were the numbers for roblox and airtable?
I'm interviewing at FB tmrw, can I Dm?
Weird you would think HRT would by far pay the highest out of these
They haven’t given me numbers yet, but they said my current numbers are already on the high side. I probably should’ve let them offer first before revealing my numbers.
weird. Was this Algo Web Engineer?
Take HRT Chicago. They'll pay about 400k and you can live like a king.
thats where the evil citadel is
Who cares?!
How did you prep for FB?
study top FB LC. I have high LC count so honestly I didn’t care, but I actually screwed up 1 question that was on there.
How bad of a screw up? Were they all easy/ meds?
No way! What were the reasons? I really want to give Airtable a chance. They’re on the low end of my offers though
Because the rumor of doubling valuation?
Hi congrats on your offers! Would you mind sharing your prep for coding and sys. design? Were most of your coding questions medium difficulty? Thank you in advance.
LC prep - studied one algorithm at a time, solving relevant problems until I nailed the implementation. I’d revisit the problems that I got wrong frequently and redo them. I moved onto more advanced algorithms for common hard problems, then moved onto solving randoms. I never wrote code until I had a clear idea of how I’d write it. Most questions were medium LC. I did get 2 hards throughout my entire experience. SD - I started with Designing Data Intensive Applications, but if I could, I’d tell my earlier self to start with the system design primer and then grokking, then supplement with DDIA. Back of the envelope calculations, engine storage trade offs, knowing what happens when any part of your system fails, transaction consistency levels, caching strats, push pull CDNs, leaderless DB quorum and consensus, there’s so much to know here. Find YouTube channels that go very in-depth into each component. Most don’t. I don’t have any recommendations to make here. Airtable and HRT had wildly different interviews from the rest. I’ve been through tons of different interviews at probably 15+ companies, all the way from being asked FizzBuzz from Walmart for a senior position to frontend system design to verifying files with only Unix commands. Frankly I’m not sure how I passed every single interview, but I really focus on communication and making sure my interviewer is following along, while maintaining enthusiasm and positivity while solving problems. I’m very honest and will be up front about when I don’t know something but will still make my best guess.
I came from google, had offers from all of these except Argo AI(didn’t interview), and more similar companies (pay/difficult of interview). Chose airtable though, and haven’t looked back. Reasons: -imo best upside in next 2-3 year time horizon(and especially rn for you the 11.7b funding round rumors) -great product (personally I also really believe in Roblox’s product) -really strong eng team/culture Haven’t looked back and it’s been amazing since
Yeah the double valuation makes my TC 420 since the RSUs are already set in stone. The product/vision/team/culture/WLB seem really great. I think I might just choose Airtable.
Which one did you choose OP?
Once I double check that my RSUs with Airtable are worth double with the new valuation, I’ll probably sign with Airtable. If this is somehow not the case, I’ll have to spend some time to decide on Google or FB or HRT.
why not roblox?
Roblox. Best company to work right now. They have best pay in the industry right now
Yeah, I’m surprised no one’s voting Roblox. They’re extremely high growth right now.
How is the wlb at Roblox ?
