L5 Salary in Databricks Amsterdam
Hey guys, I have completed all interviews at databricks and am waiting for salary discussion for L5. Can someone tell how much to expect in terms of basic pay and stock options. I have 10YOE as Data Engineer #databricks #amsterdam #dataengineer

Is it for a solutions architect position ?
No, for senior technical solutions engineer.
What kind of job will you be doing in Amsterdam? I was under the impression that Databricks Amsterdam was mostly sales engineers/consultancy
this is partly true, but they do also have a large engineering team there too

This is your best source for EU salaries. Levels.fyi has some DB roles in AMS but not many. Be sure to filter offers in the last year as equity was likely higher before the last round.

Yes now it’s verbal. Package is same what I am getting now + 33k RSU per year. So I am not sure what to do.
Do you mean the same as you make at IKEA? How is this possible? I thought databricks was paying tons?
It is low.. looks like when others have freeze/layoff, DB is hiring but they want to preserve cash with lowball offers. You may have to think if not DB than what? Staying at IKEA will be good prospect for promotion and pay rise? In today’s macroeconomic environment it’ll not be easy to get great offer elsewhere as well! While DB offer is lowball, it’s still 33% more because of RSU. Or 16% more if we assume valuation is half of what they call out based on public tech meltdown. Long term prospect at DB should be better than IKEA (but you know more) provided DB continues to grow market share.
IKEA is brick and mortar meaning that IT is a cost center for them. If IKEA needs to have severe cost reduction during the recession, IT will be one of the first departments to get purged.
Yes these are somethings to think about with respect to immediate vs long term career growth. Also RSUs are a good factor considering databricks growth over last few years.
You can directly discuss with the recruiter. What's the role they offered you? Did they ask you two+one referenced and also did you have exec round?
