L7 SDM Amazon vs L6 TPM FB
At a bit of a career crossroads. Currently an L7 SDM at Amazon. No major complaints, but I cant help feeling like the culture/workenvironment is not quite what im looking for. I have recieved an out of band offer for L6 TPM at FB (~450k once projected refreshers are included) which is the same as what im making here. However the 4 year cliff (L6 target is ~360k) will be big unless I make it to L7. Even at L7, im guessing the comp would be similar to my current L7 SDM comp, nevermind any potential comp growth here at Amazon in the L7 band during that time. Comp aside, FB just seems like a better place to work in terms of perks, workplace environment, benefits, culture, etc. What does blind think?

Level is same, if you want to get rid of people management then this is good, not sure how you calculated projected refreshers. IMO brand is bigger than Amazon. You should move. Btw, would be interested in knowing what were your interview rounds or questions were like ?
Level is the same but top of Amazon L7 SDM band is much higher than L6 TPM band at FB.
Can you specify why you think Facebook environment is better ?
Agreed with above. Feels like a step down and the grass is no greener at FB. Maybe even browner; the grass that is.
Noob question - What all bad things have you heard on Facebook ? Reason for the question - I may be faced with a situation where I have to pit google vs Facebook
I’ve posted on this a bunch before, I’m admittedly just not a fan of FB. I’ve heard terrible WLB, toxic internal culture, tone deaf leadership and constantly shipping poor quality products. No company is perfect, Amazon for sure isn’t, but FB is a whole other level of bad. I’d take Google over FB.
What is the future of Facebook? I wouldn’t put my eggs in that social media basket. That business is subject to regulation and is solely based on the addictive habits of its users. Meanwhile there are many henhouses across Amazon to sustain your path.

Really depends on what you are looking for in your career. Don't worry about the folks talking about future of social media.. It's the thousand headed monster reborn in multiple forms. Focus on being happy doing what you like doing. Add long as you are not a URA at Amazon, you can go back easily.
