An L7 is called a Lead. bhdkoa is correct, L8 is director. my boss was this and she told me her base was $200-240k. Twitter had other benefits that may not translate as well in WFH but the workload was never stressful if you are an L8 with experience at more mature enterprise companies. If this is your first L8 at an enterprise, you might find yourself chasing ghosts and putting out fires because a lot of the energy around you is in a constant state of reactionary momentum, meetings without agendas and projects without DACI models. Some call the constant alignment and realignment meetings Group Think. Some refer to it as helping people learn with you. The CFO tried to get the culture to operate with DACIs but people didn’t really understand the model so you would have 9 people as an Approver and 14+ as Consulted. Anyone listed as Informed often thought that meant they were consulted too. And if you didn’t implement someone’s feedback who was listed as consulted you often had to have more meetings with that person and everyone else to get consensus if you could move forward or had to action on that person’s feedback. And this often happened regardless of your level particularly if the DACI had a lot of cross functional teams on it. I learned a lot of patience during the time I was at Twitter.
I heard directly from a few people on the role that the base is between 220-240 with 30% bonus. Expect stocks for non tech to be half of what levels.FYI L8 role shows for tech
I was told I was a the very top end of the L7 salary band and came with a solid 16 years in a non-tech field and of those 16, 10 in a specialized area I was hired for. My TC was $230k, base and bonus. The stock is sort of negligent, IMO when you have bigger hitters out there. If you are on Goldbird, that is the revenue part of the business, you probably make more. I was Bluebird (consumer app non-ads). Just prepare yourself to work with people learning how to do their jobs for the very first time or copying a mechanism out of a best seller in the Self Help section but not actually having experienced the concept first hand , yet.
