Why is it that all (99%) admissions in IIM are from (non-CSE) branches. Do IIT CSE students earn more than IIM-ABC graduates right after BTech? PS: I am IIT CSE graduate and my TC is 40 with 1 yoe. Just asking if I should give CAT this year or not. #amazon #microsoft #google #facebook #iit #iim #career #adobe #goldman #tech
Bad branches? Nice self entitlement
Just cuz they’re in “bad” branches doesn’t mean they’re stupid or some shit. Get off your high horse and understand that different people want different things.
Yeah, this guy thinks he is Elon Musk just by getting into IIT CSE. THERE ARE NO BAD BRANCHES.
IITs branches determined by choice rather than rank. In my iit most of candidates chose to move from various branch to Cse which clearly show intent that majority students wanted to go for Cse. Obviously tagging branch as bad is not good. Rather use preferred or popular branch.
You seem like Suhas from 3 Idiots movie to me. The way you are looking at it is completely wrong. If salary is all you are after, then why bother doing IIM ABC?
You are still immature. Not everything is about TC. IIT CSE grads are most likely working at good product cos and passionate about tech. Why would they want to give CAT and waste 2 years to move into field they aren't interested in?
I know, but I'm asking advice from TC perspective only. Should I give CAT or not?
Toss a coin. Better than asking strangers with no info about yourself
Subtle showoff. Pathetic!
Wtf, US graduates are making 4-5 times my salary. It isn't a show-off just wanted career advice. For example v if my TC is 10-15 then giving CAT is a smart option. But for me, is it?
Comparing INR with USD?🤣 how did you even get into IIT?
I am sure you added joining bonus and other shit to your TC to make it 40 lpa (like how Adobe, Amzn does), didn't expect this from a smart candidate 😂
I didn't 😅... Base + 1 year Stock only
nice 👍 which company ?
Depends on the type of career you want, if cost function is TC maximization then doesn't make sense in the short term, in the long term, both are equivalent
Thanks, this is the first sensible response I read. Do you have some data points? Or is it your hunch?
Say you are earning 40 now I dont know how much top IIM grads earn but let's say Amazon hires L6 PM's from IIM. L6 PM get 60-80 TC. Assume 80. If you can get to 80 in your current career track, then doesn't make sense as you loose 2 year income. If you can't, then maybe for few years you can earn more. But over the years non mba peers will catch up. Also SDE/SDMs earn more than PMs and SDEs can move to SDM roles too without MBA. Again this is all in tech companies. I dont have any clue what opportunities exist outside tech for MBAs.
Confused sperm
We were all, at one point.
I believe it's about the money only. People take admission into IIT core branches because of the brand value and then realise they can never make good money in the core branches and also they lose interest. Some people starte coding while for some other people Management, finance, consulting is the way to go and because of their strong apitiude they crack CAT and get into IIMs. For CS students, they already get minimum 20+ lac package which is mostly more than top IIM packages so no use of taking admission in IIM unless they don't find tech interesting .
Truth bomb has been dropped.
This guy fucks. Truth uncovered. 🙂
They go for MS/PhD.
