I was laid off from my current job yesterday. I'm a hardware test engineer. The market doesn't look good so I might have to do general stuff for a while until I find another good corporate job (I don't want to work for small companies or do a 9-5 for peanuts). I recently got my GC so visa stuff are not a problem. I used to be on H1B that's why I have only worked in tech so far. Honestly I don't really like tech anyway so I'm in no rush to jump back in. Any ideas on jobs I can do to maintain my income and/or make a living? I have done doordash/uber eats a little before but I'm also interested in working in the service industry (especially becoming a bartender). Any other ideas on jobs I can get started on with little experience? What about public benefits I'm eligible for (food stamps, low income housing, cash assistance, etc)? Male late 20s TC 90K (0 as of yesterday) Currently in NC but thinking of relocating back to California - I was here solely for this job Thanks guys! #layoff #layoffs #misc #jobs #sidejob #tc
Current nw?
Nothing much besides a few grand emergency funds
DM if you see anything at Intuitive
making a small living and achieving no goals in the USA is incredibly easy. so many $15/hr jobs you can do for 8 hrs then go home and play ps5 and eat some food sleep.
Did qualcomm had a round layoffs yesterday?
Move to California only if you find a job. Living in California without a job is going to be hell.
Even with a job is hell. With a not so good paying job.
I've lived there before with a 120K TC but before that I was an intern in the bay area with $35/hr and was renting a bedroom so I thought it's doable even tho it's not a luxurious life but was wondering if I can at least make that level of income with general jobs and public benefits. I have friends and family in Cali that's why I wanna go there
