I used to be at a comfortable role when 6sense approached me in early 2021. Their offer was interesting and I decided to join them in the summer after a long round of interviews. 3 months into my role they went through layoff and I got cut. After 3-4 month of unemployment I got a job at Confluent. Today my skip level manager from 6sense reached out saying he has an opening an wants me back. How do I approach this situation? Both salaries are very similar, Confluent has a better equity plan but salary is on a 60/40 split while 6sense is on a 85/15. #layoffs #tech #hired #help #confluent #6sense
You know the answer. It's in your question.
Which one do you enjoy more, in terms of what you do and the environment? If you can answer that, then I guess you have answer to your question.
I do enjoy the current team better but not so sure about the product. The old job had a decent team but a solid product. Overall I think I’m staying where I’m at.
You know the answer.
What’s the value of X and Y?
I have updated the post hahaha
Nah. Your layoffs are usually determined by the skip or the skips manager. Usually Director / vp So either your skip is powerless to cover for you or your skip picked you to go.
I never seen benefits worth more than extra $1000/month of sum(base, RSU)
Can u share the TC numbers for both of the companies?
Around $120k TC with 2 years of experience for both
Thanks for replying, quick question, 6sense is not public yet right so there equity is just paper money but at the same time confluent would be paying real money...so how is the pay similar in both the company
Ask for higher pay,
If you want to go back, it's gotta be at a significantly higher pay rate.
Honestly depends on you OP you have the advantage that they want you back. Things to consider: What if lays happen again are you willing to go thru that again? And as @snowflake said about the environment

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Seems fine. Layoffs don't mean they fired you
