Laid off today 😕
I got an email at 5 in the morning telling me that I was laid off as of today. Few things I wish I did: - Stand up for myself when I was thrown between projects without asking me and was made to work 13-15 hours a day with a leadership who was arrogant and didn't acknowledge my hard work. - Changed teams when I had time. I got so busy trying to prove myself that it became too late. TC: 200k (not anymore) YOE: 3+ Role: SWE Org: Music #layoff #tech

Getting laid off is not about your performance or hardwork. I was promoted to customer in a round of layoffs. Almost 5 years of tenure, TT YoY, and a L6 promotion. I enjoyed my team and LT at that time. Too much competition for extremely limited internal roles at the time of layoffs so I just looked externally. I would still go back if I found another role. If you want to stay, look for internal positions (you are on payroll for 60 days which you can look internally for). Otherwise, just look externally.
