I am well aware of representation bias through the sampling distribution. The solution is to divide by the corresponding number of votes here (for sufficiently large N): In which languages have you read, or been read to? https://us.teamblind.com/s/3b1x75Ed
C?
K&R.
Meaningless poll. Even the representation bias aside, I doubt a lot of blinders are qualified enough to judge literature in all these languages. I guess I can judge Russian literature, and _may be_ English, to some extent. But I'm completely clueless about all the other languages you mentioned.
You haven't read all of the languages? What! That's inconceivable. The other world literature rankings I've consulted were all constructed by polyglots who know at least 19 (including the ancient variants, e.g. Anglo-Saxon and Homeric Greek). Come on now, young grasshopper.
This question sounds super racist. I don’t think it’s possible for one language to have better literature than others. You can always translate
Let's not project psychological bias. Language is not race. I can speak multiple languages, for instance, but am not multiracial. If I can read Latin and Egyptian hieroglyphics, does that mean I am an ancient Roman or Egyptian? The question pertains to the original language of publication, not translations. But even then, not all translations are available. And they are usually of inferior quality, especially for poetry. Ignorance is exceeded only by ignorance.
I could construct my own language that has no literature written in it whatsoever. Of course it’s not as good.
Obviously the Metu Neter in heiroglyphics
Won't most people vote by their ethnicity?
Yes
That's why I'm going to divide by the number of votes here to control for representation bias: In which languages have you read, or been read to? https://us.teamblind.com/s/3b1x75Ed
