Stupid question : is it only US or all over the world?

Infinera USCIS WAC Jan 30

All over the world I think. At least Tech. I know lot of layoff in India too. But in India, layoff are generally silent and even people keep it to themselves for possible backlash for society and family.

Which sector is the most impacted.

Appnovation lewandowsk Jan 30

From the looks of it : A lot of gaming, R&D focused teams (teams not creating immediate value), also high TC super senior folks. General layoffs in tech from Block, WayFair, PayPal etc are more slightly concerning than Microsoft laying off an unprofitable gaming sector.

Banking/consulting and media are being hit hard too

Meta i0mr Jan 31

Powell wanted about 500k layoffs in tech to combat the inflation, just about 50k left. Stay strong mates, we are almost there. current wave of layoffs seems like an attempt to set low expectations for salaries for the new year hiring season.
