Hi Blind folks, How does the Principal level position at Wells Fargo compare to roles at Google/Meta/Microsoft? The level comparison I've seen doesn't seem accurate. Additionally, what salary expectations should I have for this position in the Chicago area? I'm in the midst of the interview process with them, and it's progressing positively. #engineer #interview #it TC -220
A simple no, if you love innovation, staying head with technologies and learning something new. But if you'd rather want a chill job, then go for it.
I would not assume it'll be chill, especially as principal. Really depends on org.
Principal comp at WF is less competitive. In Chicago, you’re probably looking at $200-230k base and then maybe $50-70k bonus… but that’s optimistic. Fair warning Chicago is barely on their location list and only one group in payments/wires is left there. They’re laying people off at that location HEAVILY. If they hire you there don’t be surprised if they ask you to move within two years. Don’t believe what the hiring manager is telling you. They fought for months to get that role approved.
Re-think if you are moving from MSFT to Wells. Principal role is not on par. You will need to align to a very political org. Like someone said in the reply above - Loc Strategy might come and bite you later. Good luck
Wells has already stated they’re laying off 10k Americans to hire 15k Indians, so long term not worth it. Don’t take the brand hit
Damn. Seems like more than a few banks are doing this
