I have some coding background but I would still say I am at beginner level. I am planning to start learning python. I see a lot of resources on internet and coursera. Can you suggest the best course to start learning Python which has really helped you learn and move into python development role?
Free book available on internet - Think Python.
Thanks. I was thinking of starting with head first python which is also freely available on internet but I can surely download this one too and start.
Peter Norvig's Udacity course. I think it's called design of computer programs... equipped me enough to be a back end engineer at startup, production development in Python.
That’s interesting. I would like to know more about your experience and challenges when you started as backend engineer after doing the course
Elements Of Programming Interviews is available in Python. It has a good summary of language specific features in front of every chapter. After that you need to study the libraries specific to the tasks you want to perform.
Thanks OP for posting this and the replies for good content. I was wanting to do the same thing. More for data but gotta learn the basics somewhere. Oddly enough, my HTML skills back in the geocities days aren’t relevant anymore.
Glad to know that there is someone else in the same boat as me. May be we can share notes and learnings together.
A super quick introduction to Python: Python in a day
For basics - Learn python the hard way book/ codeacademy

By far, best resource is DataCamp. Interactive learning right in the browser. Now this would be data centric but for the newbie stuff wouldn’t make much difference
Thanks... didn’t know about datacamp.... looked it up and seems something I can definitely do.
