Curious to hear which gaming company folx think is the least toxic? Seems like toxicity is pretty common in many gaming companies but curious to find out which one is relatively good within the industry in terms of culture
Is there a specific location you’re looking for? and what discipline?
Valve? I heard from someone it wasn't bad and has strong engineering talent. This is just one person's opinion.
Define toxic
Been at Nintendo for a year now. I have no complaints, it's been pretty great thus far.
Is pay pretty low for SDE? What kind of work is available at NOA?
I would say we are on the lighter end of market, but still comparable. The benefits and WLB are worth it IMHO.
How would you describe "Crunch" culture?
It is absolutely hands down, Nintendo.
Makes me happy to hear that, I love Nintendo.
Heard they got rid of the pension for incoming employees? Do they give RSUs?
Think it varies a lot by team and department. I work at HQ and I personally don’t find EA toxic at all. No crunch, culture of tolerance and inclusion, big push for women’s rights, etc. Someone working in another department / location might have a different option...

Inclusion and diversity? Those are jokes! I work at EADP, there’s no diversity - no Latinos, Black, women only count 20% or less. Management are Indian or white male. My Indian manager constantly targeting me for being the only gay person here. My friends said “Indian don’t like gays”
Lol, dude, you need to report that sh*t
Man, that is night and day difference from my experience at EARS
Limited exposure to Xbox engineering, but have loved my time here. Plus, Phil is the just the best.
From bunch of blind posts, Epic seems to be the only sane gaming company
Depends how you measure toxicity. Epic has, for the most part, pretty solid leadership and talent. Low diversity in engineering but from what I can tell there isn't a toxic cultural reason for that. The main toxic elements I've come across are that advancement is a highly political venture, which can be railroaded by a few key highly toxic people, and that crunch, expectations and poor resourcing are turning teams and individuals negative and toxic due to stress and being set up to fail. I won't be here much longer
I haven’t witnessed this yet, but it’s probably a different world outside of online org.
