5 yoe, 2 at Waymo. Current TC: 305k Waymo L4, 210k cash, 95k paper money L5 is probably at least a year away Offer: also autonomous driving, L5 equivalent, TC ~390k but all cash. I like my team but feel I can get more value out of myself elsewhere, both career wise and comp wise. #swe
390k cash? Dude bounce.
Yeah I’d bounce. All cash is incredible. Especially with a market crash incoming
Crash already happened…. Now is the best time to get stock based comp as next year your comp can be WAY higher than that.
Crash did NOT happen. Fed scrambling to get their hedge buddies out of trouble but it’s going to be a massive overhaul soon. Evergrande failing still didn’t have its effects. Fed buying up shitty MBS to help out banks and funds. Shit is gonna be crazy
Zoox?
Zoox is not all cash.

Some friends in Waymo got promoted from 4 to 5 in 1.5 year in perception team. Your current team seems not good for ur career
If you go look for discussion threads about choosing RSU v.s. Options for Tesla job offer, prior to 2019 Everyone in Blind recommends to take RSU as if that were common sense. Looking back, all those people are all blindfolded.. So, in 2022 everyone( well, 68%) is suggesting you to take cash as if that were common sense. Make sure you won't hate yourself later when those 22% came to you and say" I told you so.."
Op, what's your take on joining waymo now ? How's the valuation n future of the company according to you?
Technology is still leading imo, but I am personally sceptical about the robotaxi business in general. I'd still recommend Waymo if you want to work on AV though. DM me if you want to discuss more.

Which company are you going to? If it's like TuSimple you're probably better off at Waymo. Edit: just noticed 390k cash not total. Totally worth it then.
Clarified, TC is 390k but all cash. No paper money.
I'm curious as to which company does an all cash no equity offer.
