I might have an offer coming my way for a director level position at Slalom. Currently a L7 IC at AWS (not ProServe). Should I strongly consider it? Will it be financially competitive? Looking for some guidance from people who have made that jump either way and/or know both companies well. TC: 290k@2023 after reviewed PCS (was supposed to be 350k as per last year’s PCS), was granted +190k in RSUs for 2024/2025
Depends on what your goal is. If you want to get a Director title in your resume then sure go for it. Else Slalom is not going to be better than AWS or Proserve.
The goal was really to get to a better comp level. Do you think they’ll be able to offer 400k ish TCC (which I asked)?
Doublful
What's your new TC?
290 TC is L5 compensation or may be low end of L6.
Not everyone is an SDE or in tech…
Also not in the west coast.
I would stay put here. Consulting firms get hit hard in down turns. Think about the small % of people actually being let go here at AWS. It’s such a small % I would just hang out here until the market heats up again. Slalom employees far less people than we do. Accenture is currently doing layoffs. Slalom will not be immune to layoffs in the long term. Let things play out before making a move.
This is wrong thinking , my org laid off all fte and hired consulting through slalom. Consulting in this climate is far better than faang
Sure, I would do independent consulting. I would not go work at a consulting firm in this environment. You can take the risk. I would rather stay put here when you run the numbers. We aren’t going to lay off all of AWS. Slalom employees roughly 12K employees. We have laid off about 200%+ of their total workforce across all of Amazon, single digits percentages of the lay-offs will touch AWS. I’ll take my chances here when you looks at the percentage of people we have laid off across Amazon.
Haha, troll, L7 IC at 290k?. Not possible. Dude your TC is below the min range of L7 IC.
You need to come out of the SDE well that you live in, there is a vast ocean of other tech profiles where the ranges are different compared to SDE ranges
Dude, am not talking about only SDE He seems to be SA L7 in AWS. That range is also above this.
Something is not adding up here, please check your level again at Amazon or check your PCs again.
Yeah I'm L6 and that's my band and I'm low in the band. He is not a sde but SA l7 SA is still 400+
Maybe in the west coast. I’m not west coast and was supposed to be at 390k this year. I’m not talking about the fake TC, I am talking about the actual TC.
Understood i would leave. Planning to myself after I collect the 5% of stock for year 1. If you are getting a director role at a major SI go for it. I am leaving for a VP role (finance industry). Similar tc as now but better benefits and environment
I believe there’s comp data for Slalom on levels.fyi. Slalom tries to emphasize sales quite a bit. It’s pretty annoying. They also have many different practices. Each office is like its own mini company, and possibly even each practice within an office. Lots of leadership bloat and redundant positions. I’ve been wanting to leave for quite some time, but I know others who are happy. I’ve got a slightly negative view of tech ability and general management skills. There’s not a lot of Slalom activity in Blind. You’ll find more on Glassdoor/Fish Bowl. There’s a post right now showing a lot of people don’t really understand the differences in “brands” of Slalom, myself included.
Stay where you are. If it’s just the title you want.
Nope, looking for comp.
L7 and 290tc … something not adding up. Care to explain or just trolling?
Non-tech, that tracks.
Well, when I joined I was at 335k with sign on bonus and I was supposed to be at 390k at year 3. But here I am…
