Leaving Government for more

I have been thinking about finally Leaving the government to go to a Commercial or Private company. The first part of my career I was a CNO Developer. Later I Moved into an analyst ( Blue team, Threat hunting, Digital Forensics). I want to focus on defensive tools and malware behavioral detection/analytics. Is it worth leaving the government for private? How do you negotiate with no prior private sector work?
