TC: 200K Yoe: 2.5 I joined Apple 4 days back. Today I received another offer that I really want to join and I am planning to resign next week once my background check completes. Should I be worried about anything? I need to give both a joining bonus and relocation package back I guess. I have a few questions: ( the other company is not going to provide me with relocation since i am now in the same city) (1) Apple provided me with temporary accommodation,a car, and one way flight ticket. WIll I have to pay for those as well to Apple or not? (2) Apple also reimbursed me for the shipping of 15 boxes. What about that? Anyone here who left Apple within few days of joining. Please DM i have few questions. #hardware #career #semiconductor
Pretty sure the hiring manager will do everything to blacklist you
Is what OP doing better than reneging?
Donât do it. Prior to Apple, I was on the receiving end and I lost tons of time, money and resources. Though I didnât blacklist the candidate but I missed an important deliverable. Eventually recovered from the situation but it didnât look good on my end.
How do you personally lose money ?
Time is money my friend
Is it really worth irrevocably burning that bridge for what is presumably a minor bump in TC? The tech community is a small world. You may live to regret this years down the line.
It is not about the TC. In fact, i am getting less RSU and lower TC. I'm thinking of switching because of the work profile.
Whatâs the other company?
You'll burn that bridge and be blacklisted. But then, it sounds like you accepted two offers, so it's more about which bridge you let burn than avoiding fire. About the relocation bonus, contractually, you have to pay it if you leave before the year. However, I've also heard they don't usually enforce it. Your case may be different as this is closer to renegading than leaving at the 10/11 month. Again, you could get blacklisted, however I understand. If I were in your shoes, and company B gave me an offer with similar or better TC and/or remote, I would do it too.
Yes youâll have to pay everything back. Also âeveryone who left apple within a few days of joiningâ, lol, do you think this is common? Reneging after finalizing is a big no no.
sure but OP has to do what is in his best interest
This is not reneging though? This is joining and dipping which might be worse honestly
Tell me you have no real-world experience without telling me you have no real-world experience. Getting blacklisted at the most valuable company in the world is DUMB.
You should chill a bit - there's more than 1 company in this world
I forget sarcasm doesnât always work in written form đ One of the things that bothers me the most is all the fanboys who think Apple is the end all be all.
Whether you can get away with it is one thing, but are you okay using apple to pay all of these expenses and then bailing on them after a week? My mama raised me to be better than that.
Were you born and raised in the US? Capitalism can be very toxic.
Yep, born and raised in the US. I'm not denying that corporate greed is problematic or that capitalism can screw the little guy (usually does). But if he agreed to pay back the money if he left within a year, and they invested in him based on that agreement, don't you think it's ethically wrong not to repay?
Lol I started laughing after that first sentence. You do you OP
you may not be able to come back
I think i am okay with that.
