I’ve just started practicing on leetcode. I’m trying to prepare for technical interviews I’m average at best with coding. I see a lot of Blinders say they mainly did easy and some medium and a few hard. Any recommendations for how to approach leetcode and prepping for technical interviews? Tc 150 🥜 Yoe ~10
In my experience you need to solve multiple hard problems (atleast the popular ones). After that you will be comfortable doing medium ones in a pressure situation in interviews
If you haven’t done interview programming before and if it has been a while since you dealt with algorithms, Search for Interview Coding Patterns. There are some websites that cover these patterns, understand them. Then it will be easy to continue with leetcode.
+1 I'd recommend OP do Grokking or neetcode if they dont have interview programming experience before. And only then do LC easy and mediums
Also do the Top Liked Questions too
Look for Blind 75 too.
Just do the Blind 75 and then neetcode
Neetcode is gooood!
https://neetcode.io You can watch this for more details about the site: https://youtu.be/aa2ijyWBBIc Edit: also not trying to make your life harder or anything but leetcoding is only part of it. Interviewing is a separate skill altogether. So I recommend also setting up mock interviews or something. Interview a lot, accept rejection and move on quickly. Good luck.
Easy and mediums will get you moving most of the way. Don't worry too much about hard ones, but easy ones aren't enough.
Spaced repetition is key. First step is to learn each of the topics. I recommend competitive programmers handbook. This is absolutely key. You have to learn the fundamentals, properly, by going through competitive programmers handbook. Leetcode is for remembering the concepts from years ago, not for learning the first time. The take 1 problem from each topic of the Neetcode 150/Blind 75. Do Cycle through the categories, then repeat your past problem every 7 days. This is harder than focusing one topic, but in the long term it's better.
I have done around 380 mediums and 85 hards but I still struggle with hard questions and sometimes a few medium ones too. So just easy and a few mediums are not enough for ALL the companies(you might be a genius though). But if you are able to do most MEDIUMS within the speculated time frame then you should be good for MOST companies. Also, i think ONLY blind75 is also not enough. Its good for revision though.
How long did it take you to do those many questions ?
I started leetcoding 4 years back. But I have stopped doing new questions since a while now. I maintain my own list of 100ish questions that I keep going back to in order to revise the patterns. So you will probably be able to do ~600ish quests in a year or so if you don’t push yourself to burn out.
Do the "Top Interview Questions" list. The easy list gives you strong fondation. Jump on the medium list if you have time.
Is it this one https://leetcode.com/explore/interview/card/top-interview-questions-easy/
It is. You need to deeply understand them.
