Left IBM to go to a semiconductor company. Feel like I was hired to fire
Left ibm a couple months back. Haven’t updated the blind because this place seems to really crack down on external emails. But they’ve more or less left me alone with all the training manuals and haven’t been been hinted on being on a project. Wondering if I was hired to be fired. Hmmmm. Gonna start leetcoding but if they do fire me I’ll have to give back the sign on bonus. Which I already spent 😞 TC: 110k YOE:2

Isn't there language on sign on bonuses that you would have to pay back IF it was voluntary only?
No it says terminated for any reason.

cocopocco Jan 25, 2023Usually they say that but I doubt they will enforce it if they fire you as part of a layoff. That’s just to cover “for cause termination”, I think.

I left ibm. Now work at company X. Which seemingly is ignoring my existence. Making me think I was hired to be fired at company X.
