Crossed a line with my boss
I have been offered a SWE level ii position at Twitter. I have close to 5 years experience. Strongly considering twitter but wondering if I am shooting for a low bar here. Have been told that it’s hard to offer a senior swe position without the experience in a bigger company. Can this be a legit reason?
I know people who started as new grads and reached senior in 3 years at Twitter.
Check http://levels.fyi for rough matchup of Twitter to other companies
^ bigger companies are easier to match against leveling wise which is why they’ll sometimes put you in a lower level to see your performance and pull you up rather quickly if you do good work
What team are you joining and what is package?
Fair point. Meaning for senior differs by countries. Many Western orgs don’t give away senior title that easily. Five years swe2 sounds just right.
