I have an upcoming interview for a software dev role and I was wondering if it would be worth it to continue the process? I’ve been seeing a lot of negative reviews on Glassdoor and blind. Also, how does it look like in terms of layoffs/job security? I know they laid off a bunch of people a few years ago and I’m wondering if they plan on doing more in the near future. I’d hate to get hired and then laid off shortly afterwards. I’m really hopeful and I’d love to work here since I’m passionate about education tech. YOE: 2 TC: $85k
The company is doing great afaik. No sign of layoffs at all. Big initiatives accomplished this year and another coming up soon. As a private company in edtech space, IXL claims to be the largest edtech company in the US and unlikely to have a layoff soon in near future. While with acquisition it’s a different story.
Company lays off acquisition hires, so I would worry as an acquisition, but they don’t actually lay off employees due to company performance etc. Edit: what I heard from my good friend who worked for them for a few years

Been here two years, never heard of a layoff. We were hiring a bunch straight through the pandemic. Company is stable and profitable. Not sure where you are but in the bay area office new grads start 120+
Main downside for me is the tech stack is old and outdated, and people don't seem to care too much about best practices.
