How's the work at Magic Leap? Heard pretty bad things about the CEO. Is it true employees in the bay area offices are treated as second class citizens? How's pay?
Some amazingly intelligent people and fun tech if you’re in the right place. But yeah, HQ is in Florida along with all of the management. And out of sight, out of mind.
And out of their mind.
You'll get to work with amazingly intelligent engineers, but the processes are chaotic, the direction is constantly changing (more so than any other company I've ever worked for), and the management is hit or miss. I think it stems from lack of clear leadership from the CEO. I personally know of one person high up in the software org who routinely curses people out. Deadlines are so far from realistic, and people are asked to work on multiple massive projects simultaneously. There are some people who are absolutely amazing to work with, and they make it easier to get through things, but I honestly don't see myself lasting there much longer unless things take a drastic change. I've heard the pay in the Bay Area isn't competitive with other large companies, I'm based in HQ. The options have no clear value and are most likely extremely diluted.

Brother beaten severely as a kid. Doesn’t speak to dad at all now.
Pay sucks work conditions suck. I went to interview and the entire bay area team crams into a warehouse.... Reminds me of sweatshops from last century
