I think I'm done with the AWS pain and I'm considering options for my next step. I see great engineers around me burnt out left and right and I'm well on my way to burning out myself. Plus most people here are mean (being mean/aggressive is a plus in my org), the kind ones tend to be pushed out unfortunately. Considering switching to Github but wanted to ask you folks about it. All comments and feedback greatly appreciated. TC 280 mostly RSUs #tech #amazon #aws #github
Why don’t you try switching teams first? I’m hiring so DM me if you’re open to talk.
GitHub is nice. Your experience is valuable. They use Golang so learn/practice it. No LeetCode, 1 take home assignment. It’s reasonable. If pass, onsite = 2 rounds of pair programming, build and troubleshoot APIs in GoLang. If pass, 2 rounds with managers. Good luck!

Definitely leave AWS. It sounds toxic. I was pretty disappointed with GitHub, though. Many better options out there.
How come?
Interview experience was terrible. Took months to schedule it. Took maybe 2 months through the process. They didn’t care if I had other offers with deadlines. They don’t schedule interviews in one day. It’s done in serial order so it’s super slow. They generally act like they don’t need you and you’d be lucky to work there. The actual offer was laughably low. More than 50% less than other offers. The only positive is there’s no LC type questions. All the coding and pair programming is real world and practical.
