Do you really feel special in your Tesla?
This is a story of two of my friends One guy is the smartest and hardest working engineer I know . He is from Eastern Europe so English isn’t perfect but it’s ok professionally . He had a 4.0 gpa while working full time ((40 hours) doing construction work so he could pay for college . He led a chip design team at Intel but promos were slow and he saw his friends in software make more so he switched to data science. Did a bootcamp and some sort of fellowship at one of the more elite data science academy’s and now is the equivalent of a L5 Data scientist . Barely makes 250K after 15 years in the industry . My friends who slacked in college and faked their way into some sort of consultancy work and then eventually moved out of those places make the same if not more. Other person is a under 30 female engineer. Definitely slacks but very social , not intellectual but got into apple… apparently makes >$500K 5 years out of college with the stock growth . TLDR - luck has so much to do with success . Being the Smartest and hardest working doesn’t translate into success .. so not fair ? Edit - my TC $350
Life is never fair. But we can be fair to ourselves.
Who ever said it was fair anyways? This is like saying, “it rains”
When it rains it pours 😫😭
"Barely makes 250k." The dude worked hard, applied himself, and now earns more than 96% of the country. Sounds like he succeeded damn well. TC 170k
Yup, it also sounds like he is just getting started.
Soon he will be making 700K while the rest will struggle to get past the senior level.
Yes unfair. But also you’re measuring a very specific point in time. Life is a longer game than that
Well said
Welcome to the world
Street smart often outworks intelligence. Communication, social skills, tactical nature is a must for growth because once you cross the ic level, its all about relationships and liaisons so that can make others work for u
It is not fair you wasted 0’s and 1’s and energy to post this
I will give an even simpler example: Person A: Born in a normal country and had good life Person B: Born in country like Syria or Afgh and endured all the struggles humanly possible and eventually died in some attack after first losing both legs in an prior attack. Luck begins the day you are born.
This person gets it
Good point
Let’s not play the fair game - we all know life isn’t fair. I think you now know something to work on that can increase your odds.
TC or barely 250K
You were more creative in asking TC in other posts 😂
