Moving to Toronto, 110k base + options Is this a decent salary and what kind of lifestyle will this afford? Will I be able to live downtown/central Toronto?
The massive difference in salaries between the Toronto and Bay Area job markets is truly puzzling. What is even more puzzling is that companies in the Bay Area are not lining up to open offices in Toronto. Is the Talent really that different ?
Is this a sign of not having confidence in their business model?
Anecdotally this is exactly what I am seeing, I’ve seen several companies move engineering to Toronto and I know of two startups where they have started with SWEs in Toronto and HQ in NYC/SF
SWE? YoE? Startup? 100k is ok but you could get more in google and etc..
Data scientist, 1YOE with a PhD
How is living cost?
If you make over $100k a year you’re rich in Toronto.
This is nowhere near the truth. After taxes, this is a shit TC.
Agreed, @apple doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Housing prices in Toronto have been increasing nonstop for years. People are getting pushed out more and more to the suburbs and even that’s becoming expensive. Factor in insane traffic and you realize how expensive it is. Where are you moving from, OP?
