I used to work at LinkedIn 2 years ago, it was pretty good then, even though culture was getting worse but it was still pretty good. Been at Meta for roughly 2 years (21 months to be precise), honestly I dont like it here. Everything revolves around PSC, specifically hate the constant pressure to keep silly metrics up, diff count, sloc etc ( it was there at LinkedIn as well but not to this extent). Reasons for LinkedIn: - WLB is horrendous, people dont know boundaries. - I hate the culture at Meta, PSC shit isnt for me - I want to move to NYC - I-140/GC Meta still has many issues Got a Staff offer from LinkedIn, numbers yet to come. It would be a lateral move like Meta E5 -> LinkedIn Staff, there wont be much upside in TC either. I am generally inclined towards taking it mainly because I liked the culture at LinkedIn, and partly because its in NYC. LinkedIn would also be able to help with I-140, Meta still has issues so there’s that. My only concern is that I am not really sure how things are at LinkedIn. I spoke with two ex-colleagues both have very different opinions, one says its really bad and I shouldnt move at any cost but he has only been at LinkedIn all his career and WLB really was amazing at one point. The other colleague is not that skeptical, I think mainly because he came from Uber so have seen worse culture lol. I would appreciate if folks at LinkedIn can help, especially those who were at Meta before. Note: TC or refreshers is not a decision making factor for me. Assume I am ok with current TC. TC: $410 #tech #linkedin #meta
Depends on the team. I feel the company-wide changes, but there are still good teams.
Hello, do you happen to have any LinkedIn Premium gift available?
Meta refreshers are big compared to LinkedIn
Yep, but at what cost? I know I am fortunate to say this but there is more to life than refreshers
Can you share the interview prep esp for staff level?
System design and leetcode…
How much leetcode? Do you need to be a leetcode ninja?
Jump when the TC makes sense
And squat when it doesn't?
Keep interviewing when it doesn't
Not the best to boomerang, 6 months later you will want to move again. TC offer will help us
^ This , work for 1 more year and jump with good package
If your main motivation is wlb / better culture then don’t bother. It’s a hot steaming pile of 💩now. We have 10% mandatory pip quota( at least that was the case till last AR.) frequent re-orgs , 0 refreshers and bonus. Most people I know are are pulling 50-60hrs.
What are the most affected orgs? Or is it magnified because of sudden shift from previous culture?
Re-orgs, zero bonus, pip quota , these are all company wide policies, and yeah, I think it’s part of the sudden culture shift
Not the Li of 2 years ago. Stay put
Hey, do you happen to have a LinkedIn Premium gift?
Yeah
Run as fast as you can, li is in no way manner or shape what it was two years ago! Culture is very toxic and wlb went to hell after layoffs
Hey, do you happen to have a LinkedIn Premium gift?
I thought LI has hiring freeze now. Can I know which team you are interviewing with or you are planning to join? As many people mentioned early, the culture is different now due to pip and reduced products/ project scope. However, the company culture and WLB are still good compared to other fast-paced companies. However, if you consider about job security, products, career growth and tech skills, maybe Meta will be better.
What do you mean by reduced products scope?
LinkedIn is not the LinkedIn two years ago
May be not but I am more interested in if its Meta?
Too bad, linkedin hired plenty of leaders from meta. You would be joining Meta Jr.
