Looking for a change in the next couple of months. Good idea or bad idea to turn on the LinkedIn feature to let recruiters know I'm on the market. I'd like to not let my manager/amazon know in the mean time until I get an offer
1st block him from your LinkedIn network. 🤷🏼♂️
Good idea. LinkedIn won’t let your current company’s recruiters see your profile. I turned on the tab and got several recruiters inmails and most of they are pretty good opportunities.
I think in general it's not that bad if your current company knows you're open to other opportunities, as long as they like you. Could lead to efforts to retain you
You can change your settings to stop broadcasting your LinkedIn activities. Unless your manager explicitly sees your profile he/she won't find out.
Good idea, but be ready for an onslaught on your inbox.
It's the best way to get cold calls for jobs in Alabama that don't align at all with my experience or age
Since you obviously haven't used the feature, you can set a geographical filter for jobs, as well as a commute time filter (eg. jobs where the commute is 30 minutes or less by car when leaving at 8:30am). Furthermore, you can set a job title filter like "staff software engineer" and full-time opportunities so that you don't get matched with internships and entry level jobs. Nice try.
It seemed to work for me, and you can occasionally remind interviewers that you are happy where you are and being poached rather than actively looking.
