Both around 230k. I have offers from both Meta and LinkedIn. I like meta's promo culture but I am international (F-1 OPT) and I feel it might not be a good idea to risk it all on meta. I believe LinkedIn is much more stable than meta. LinkedIn will sponsor my GC a few months after starting but with the current backlogs for ROW (~1 year for perm + ~1 year for submitting I-485) and maybe Trump winning, I don't believe it's worth the risk so I plan to stick with getting H1B first unless things get better by October (correct me if you believe the reasoning for doing H1B first is wrong). My fear is that if I lose my job less than a year after starting, the odds of being hired are very low compared to if I stay in LinkedIn for 2 years and become a mid level engineer and separate myself from the immense pool of NGs/Bootcamp/independent coders.
I would assume the programming culture are better at LinkedIn and hence better for teaching a fresh grad how to code. Meta won’t .
Wdym they don't teach you? Do you get some kind of support net or something or are you on your own completely?
You get some support but it’ll depend on the generosity of your mentor with their time.
LinkedIn is trash. Avoid, unless you don’t care about career and TC growth. If you interned, it may be worth tho.
How does that change things?
Interns have a fast path to senior quickly (L4 equivalent). It’s doable in 1-1.5 years. LinkedIn isn’t bad as long as you get a strong joining offer. Don’t expect any fat refreshers though. You’d have to treat it as a short term stint.
How did you get offer from LinkedIn. I heard they are not hiring
Return offer for intern
230k for new grad... holy hell. I was excited to get a new grad job in 2022 at well under 100k
LinkedIn ain’t stable honey. Also today we learned we’re now not only missing yoy growth target for our biggest business, but we’re also regressing instead. Negative growth. Layoffs will likely follow in early 2024. Go with meta
You mean LMS?
LTS
Both are unfortunately shit companies in current year. Good luck. t. has a partner who works at LinkedIn
Don’t you think LinkedIns business would suffer during a recession?
I feel meta would throw 5% of the company for every 1% LI throws
More job hunters during a recession spend on a premium subscription
