Brother beaten severely as a kid. Doesn’t speak to dad at all now.
Hi all, I got a L2 offer for a Systems Engineering role at LM Space. I was wondering if anyone could give input on what I can expect in terms of salary. Initial offer is 97k, which is right in the middle of the pay band which goes to 125k. I've got way higher offers at other places but I crushed the interview and loved the team. Also how fast can progression to L3 be?
Don't take it under $115K, $97k in 2023 is $80k in 2020 dollars.
Immediately after the interview I thought easily I can get 115k or 110k at the minimum - I even got called immediately after by the hiring managers and put 115k in expected salary when TA reached out so I was surprised when TA got back with that initial offer
Middle of pay band is usual offer. More money has to go to VP which can be stingy. Depends on location whether it’s a bad deal or not
That’s a crazy lowball.. especially for L2…
97k really doesn't go far in 2023 except in VLCOL areas
Don’t take it. Defense pay is 🥜. Also, were your other offers from a company in tech? If so, you’ll also probably learn more.
Peanuts compared to upper tier tech companies but only slightly below average market rates
Normal offer
I am a lvl 2 software engineer. After our bonuses and raises this year, I pull in 105k paper then 3-5k bonus. Do with that info what you will. I also negotiated 3k more when I started at level 2 so there is some wiggle room, idk about 20k but there is wiggle room.
I know people who just got offers in the same city for same position in aerospace and defense (smaller company) and get around 115k - not sure if LM offers as competitive as the smaller firms but thanks for the additional data point. Hoping I get a better offer.
I negotiated 110K to 123K without any grief. Just a short email asking if X figure would work for the hiring manager.
Is this for a L2 position? Also what COL/city if you don't mind?
Fully remote, L4
I also have a systems engineering interview coming up, do you mind sharing what it was like?
L2 to L3 depends on experience+performance. If you already have a few YOE should be fairly quick if you perform well your first year.
