Blind will hate on Aerospace & defense companies—but for the non haters in need of a job; we are hiring for tons of technical IC roles in some pretty cool fields for some pretty cool programs. Obviously most of them are not remote, and will require a (mostly) clean record in order to obtain a clearance. Most managers allow periodic or regular/part time telework to some extent. Personally, I enjoy being in the office with my colleagues—but I also WFH on occasion… if I’m sick, need space to get some documentation done, or have someone coming by the house (something I need to sign for or perhaps having home renovations done). It’s a great WLB with pay that is fair (slightly above National average, but not big tech TC) and a great retirement match/contribution program. Our stock has been solid and we’ve got more good work on the horizon than qualified candidates to do it. If you live near an LM facility and feel inclined, I encourage you to take a look at openings on LockheedMartinJobs.com FWIW I will refer anyone who asks; so long as you DM me and give me a resume or LinkedIn to take a look at. This post is for those who need a job—I won’t respond to trolls who have a problem with the military industrial complex or the fact that our TC isn’t 250k+ for new grads. Good people, good mission, job security, lots of growth/learning opportunities, and the old dinosaur culture we’ve been renown for having is finally starting to evolve. Blind tax: Base 130k Company retirement contribution + bonus brings it to 150k OT brings it to 175k I’ve been with the company for almost 6 years. Before that I was an enlisted Marine with no degree. Now I’m a staff engineer with a good BS and working on my MS in CS at a top 5. LM paying for it all. Didn’t include tuition reimbursement in my TC.
OT? So you guys get paid OT when working more than 40 hours a week?
Yes. Straight time though.
I got overtime at Northrop Grumman as well @ 1x my hourly rate
Great initiative, good going OP.
I don’t hate Lockheed Martin…maybe cause I am pragmatic and not a self righteous idiot
“I support warmongers who commit war crimes coz I’m not self righteous” 🤓
@Microsoft yall aren't going to win your re bid for the $10B defense cloud provider contract this year with that attitude
I knew someone who worked there too. Great company n benefits. He was diagnosed with cancer , did not loose his job went for all treatments over 5 years until he lost the battle. The company has immense respect from me.
When I worked at Lockheed, I worked more time to get less done and be less appreciated. If you want to be surrounded by people who think parsing a string is a monumental task, defense might be for you.
In this day n age parsing string = paycheque, it counts. Unless you want to solve world hunger problem which I haven’t seen you doing.
Go join defense, I'm not stopping you
I’m assuming like most defense contractors you guys drug test for weed?
Dm him to confirm, I’ve heard even dod has relaxed this requirement on a lot of their civilian contractor swe roles because most swe’s come from areas of the country where it’s legal and consumed
I have friends at Northrop and Raytheon that were hired on recently and they had to test (in California where it’s legal). I’ve heard it’s only for initial hiring though and you won’t be randomly drug tested unless there’s cause for it.
I am sure you require US citizenship or at least a green card to begin with.
Citizenship is required for a security clearance.
And residency to work with ITAR controlled data, which is pretty much all over the company.
I interned at a defense company, and honestly it was great experience. There were a lot of people I interacted with who were clearly experts in the field and the WLB was amazing. Obviously you won’t get the same TC, but it’s still way above the median salary and usually in a LCOL-MCOL area. Projects vary a lot, but there are good pockets of interesting work. If you’re a US citizen, can get a clearance and need a job, it’s a good opportunity. Obviously it’s not for everyone, and if you’re going to post troll comments just move on. OP is trying to help those who need a job right now.
Not sure why people hate Aerospace?
They look at TC, they also look at the processes that come with the “everything has to work near perfectly” product requirements and get frustrated by what seems slow and plodding development cycle. Plus a lot of the software is running on rad hard hardware which often is not the fastest and is never the latest so stuff has to be pretty streamlined.
Not everyone is comfortable contributing to technology that may be used to kill people
Many of Lockheed roles require clearance or US citizenship, which is totally fine, just mentioning this. I hope this post helps someone find a new role.
Good point. This post will be geared towards US citizens. Thanks for pointing that out.
Also you have to be able to get a security clearance, hence no drugs, and no questionable travels outside the United States
