London HFT Dev salaries?
Hi all, After around 5 years in FAANG, I'm thinking of giving HFTs a try. I've always been intrigued. What TC can a SWE with 5yoe expect in London? I'm talking top tier Jane Street, HRT etc. I'm based right now in Zurich. So if anyone has any ideas on what i might expect with CitSec in Switzerland, that'd be great too. Thanks. From my own experience and salaries posted here or levels it seems like you can get in the £300k+ range, I’d imagine top performers can get even more.

Genuine question. What do people do with salaries above 100k? They just stick everything into their pension? Or pay half in taxes?
I contribute the max pension % that my employer doubles but pay taxes on everything after that. My reasoning is that, with a salary like this, I won’t need to rely on my pension so I’d rather have the money now. Obviously it is more efficient to put loads into your pension but I don’t think I’ll need extra money at 67.
Under current UK rules private pension can be accessed ten years before state pension age, so 57, not 67.
Is it 240k chf at google for 5 yoe? Seems quite less no? Also in London you can easily get £300k, but your after tax pay will only be about £170k. So keep that in mind.

1. Had offer from Citadel: 400K GBP 2. Jane Street can give smth from 300k-800k GBP depending on experience. Interview process is tough and requires good engineering skills rather than being leetcode hard bot. Source: few friends work there.
Are you willing to share your / your friends YoE for those comps? I’m trying to understand how competitive my HFT offer is with those firms.
Mine is 8 YoE, a friend who got 300K at JS was new grad with 0 yoe, other friend with 800K offer has 10yoe. Fun fact: they didn’t negotiate. I couldn’t believe until I saw the offer letter
