Hey folks, i have been in london for 6 months, and so far, the weather makes me depressed. Summer was actually good because of the sun and long days, but for the last 2 months, I dont want to do anything in my free time except playing some games or watching something. I am considering moving to New York. What do you think about life in NY vs. London? Is it worth moving there just for the weather? It will increase my salary too. TC £85K NY TC will probably be around ~$200k
Weather is almost same if thats your primary reason for moving
Both are miserable but in different ways. London can be bad in the summer too when there is a heatwave and many homes do not have AC. I would take California any day.
Lower taxes and a much higher TC ceiling here than London. Same diversity and food choices. Healthcare is much worse, not as good sports teams in New York IMHO. 200k is good in NYC just live in Brooklyn
Similar weather in the winter, smells like hot garbage in the summer. Much better food. 200K won’t go a long way unless you don’t have kids and even then you will likely need to maintain a modest apartment. If you intend to save some money, invest some, and have some aside for medical.
how bad is healthcare there? should I really spend so much money, even if there are minor health problems?
Food is very similar quality wise, London has slightly more Michelin starred restaurants than New York
